C-Quadrat sets up in France

The group headed by Carlo Michienzi has taken a majority stake in Advenis IM.

Carlo Michienzi, member of the executive committee of C-Quadrat, an independent asset management company already established in London and Vienna, will take over the management of the group’s new office in Paris. This opening follows the acquisition in August 2018 of a 51% stake in Advenis Investment Managers. William Sharp, appointed Deputy Managing Director of the new structure, will retain his position as Head of European Equity Investment Strategies. Beata Kaminska joins the 12-person team as Sales Director.

Aged 53, the boss of C-Quadrat is a graduate of the University of Lausanne and Insead. He was Managing Director of Mediation (Tradition group) in Paris from 1986 to 1995, before becoming Executive Director at Finacor in London, then responsible for Italian corporate clients for fixed income products at Commerzbank. Between 1998 and 2005, he worked at Morgan Stanley Private Bank in London.

With this acquisition, the C-Quadrat multi-boutique group exceeds 10 billion euros in assets. At the end of the transaction, carried out for 2.4 million euros, Advenis retains 49% of the capital but C-Quadrat has a purchase option allowing it to acquire the remaining shares within a period of 3 years.
